WSJ Trashes McCain Plan

John McCain’s coming off a really bad week; his gaffe about the “fundamentals of the economy being strong,” the proposed firing of the SEC chairman (which is beyond the Presidents powers), against the AIG bailout on Tuesday, for it on Wednesday, and just when he thought it was over out comes this editorial from the ultra conservative Wall Street Journal.
“In a crisis, voters want steady, calm leadership, not easy, misleading answers that will do nothing to help. Mr. McCain is sounding like a candidate searching for a political foil rather than a genuine solution. He’ll never beat Mr. Obama by running as an angry populist like Al Gore, circa 2000.” (Source)
If McCain can’t count on selling the staunchly Republican Wall Street Journal on his economic plan, why should anyone else buy it?
