Quote of the Day

“If you think those lobbyists are working day and night for John McCain just to put themselves out of business, well, then, I’ve got a bridge to sell you up in Alaska.” – Barack Obama (Source)

Obama

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has apparently taken the mesage to heart that his supporters want him to run a more aggressive campaign. New ads, and a new sharpness in his tone are evidence he’s delivering on his promise to do so.

And the base seems to be appreciating it. Donations to the Barack Obama for President campaign topped $66 Million, a new record. Perhaps even more importantly Obama’s campaign received much of that money from 500,000 new donors! (Source)

McCain has opted for public financing, so he’s capped at $84 Million, but McCain’s violating the spirit of the campaign finance law he helped author, by continuing to solicit contributions for the RNC, which relies heavily on fat cat donors and fundraisers.

Donors to the National Party can give up to $25,000 (Source), or more than 10 times the limit that individual candidates can receive legally! Obama’s campaign is being funded by Mom’s and Dad’s, students and workers, and McCain’s campaign is being financed by Oil Company fat cats, and their brethren.
